Hollywood stars have been against Donald Trump from the very beginning, as the president has made it clear he has no intention of helping liberal elites. Though many entertainers have attacked Trump, one star just took his hatred for the president way too far.
PS Republic reported that actor Sean Penn just took aim at Trump with a controversial new novel in which he called for the president’s assassination.
In the book “Bob Honey Who Just Do Stuff,” Penn has the main character of Bob Honey write a letter to the book’s fictional president, Mr. Landlord, who seems to be a thinly veiled representation of Donald Trump.
“You are not simply a president in need of impeachment, you are a man in need of an intervention,” Honey wrote in the letter. “We are not simply a people in need of an intervention, we are a nation in need of an assassin.”
The letter, which also references Russian election meddling, “alternative facts” and the Women’s March, concludes with Honey challenging Mr. Landlord to a dual, before threatening, “Tweet me … I dare you.”
Penn has often publicly slammed Trump, whom he called “an enemy of mankind” in an op-ed for Time in January. Unfortunately for Penn, his attempt to bash Trump here backfired, as his book has gotten horrible reviews. The Washington Post wrote that Penn should “never quit his day job,” and The New York Times observed that the book eventually “induces something like Stockholm syndrome — you admire the novel just because you’re surviving it.”
It’s time to hold celebrities like Penn accountable for their horrifying threats against Trump. Before long, some deranged liberal is going to take their threats literally and actually try to assassinate the president.
