Reports came in just moments ago that President Donald Trump has fired his Secretary of State Rex Tillerson.

Business Insider reported that Trump has asked Tillerson to leave his post, and he will be replacing him with CIA Director Mike Pompeo. Trump reportedly asked Tillerson to leave his post on Friday, and the president confirmed this in a tweet on Tuesday morning.

“Mike Pompeo, Director of the CIA, will become our new Secretary of State. He will do a fantastic job! Thank you to Rex Tillerson for his service! Gina Haspel will become the new Director of the CIA, and the first woman so chosen. Congratulations to all!” Trump wrote.

It has long been rumored that there was tension between Tillerson and Trump. He is currently on a diplomatic trip in Africa, and it is not known when he will return.

“I am deeply grateful to President Trump for permitting me to serve as director of the Central Intelligence Agency and for this opportunity to serve as secretary of state,” Pompeo said in a statement. “His leadership has made America safer and I look forward to representing him and the American people to the rest of the world to further America’s prosperity.”

“I am grateful to President Trump for the opportunity, and humbled by his confidence in me, to be nominated to be the next Director of the Central Intelligence Agency,” Haspel added in a statement of her own.
